On October 19th 2017 Rector Dag Rune Olsen hosted a lunch for the five new professors in University of Bergen’s and Bergen Research Foundation’s joint Toppforsk-program. The foundation’s CEO Sveinung Hole also attended the lunch. The Toppforsk-program aims to get more world-leading researchers to the University of Bergen. All five researchers are now in place in Bergen, and in the process of establishing their research groups. Rector welcomed the five professors to the University of Bergen, and emphasized the need for open dialogue in order for the researchers and the program to achieve the program goals.

One of the main initiatives of Bergen Research Foundation is competence. The Toppforsk-program and the BFS Starting Grants are the main elements of this initiative.
